Synonym: Burgundy Iceberg. Sport of the well-known spray rose 'Schneewittchen' or 'Iceberg', found in a garden in Tasmania. The double, loose flowers have a distinct, dark red-purple colour with a lighter, whitish back of the petals. The medium-sized flowers grow in clusters of 3 to 15 flowers. The plant shrubs well, is almost spikeless and has shiny, light green leaves. In July, starvation mildew can occur, but this does not affect the repeat-flowering. Like 'Schneewittchen', it flowers continuously from June to the first frost. Planted as a parterre, in groups between other plants, as a hedge and in pots. Is also a good cut rose. Acknowledged World’s Best Rose in 1983.
