A cross between 'Robin Hood' and 'Baby Faurax' inspires Louis Lens to call this rose 'Violet Hood'. This rose and its next cross with 'Robin Hood', called 'Woody', made Louis Lens curious after the work of Peter Lambert and Pastor Joseph Pemberton and to find out the origin of their roses. ‘Violet Hood' has small, semi-double flowers in heavy clusters on stiff, slightly inclined stems. This species has a special, dark lavender purple colour. The plant has interesting, dark green leaves with a brown glow. Small, red hips appear in autumn. Suitable as a solitary plant, in groups, in the perennial border, for hedges and in pots.
