William Lobb
A robust, vigorous, and healthy moss rose, beloved for its dark reddish-purple colour that fades to lilac-mauve-gray. The medium-sized flowers are loosely double. Their fragrance is strong and sweet. The flower buds are heavily covered with green moss, which exudes an aromatic resinous scent when touched. A real eye-catcher!

This large, robust shrub attracts attention in June and July with its beautiful dark colour. The medium-sized flowers are loosely filled and have a fantastic colour: dark purple-red, fading to lilac-mauve-gray shades. Their fragrance is strong and sweet. The flowers grow in clusters and are heavily mossy. The foliage is dark green, glabous and matte. This robust shrub can grow up to 3 meters tall. We keep it shorter by shortening the heavy branches after flowering. This keeps the plant compact and bushy, and we prune away new shoots, which usually appear from July onwards and are prone to powdery mildew. This plant is also used as a climber.
William Lobb (1809-1863) was an English plant collector who collected plants from North and South America for the Veith & Sons Nursery between 1840 and 1857.
