Nepeta faassenii 'Purrsian Blue' AGM

Nepeta faassenii 'Purrsian Blue' is a compact, floriferous catmint cultivar prized for its profuse lavender-blue flowers and fragrant grey-green foliage. It forms tidy mounds reaching 30 to 40 cm in height and spreading 45 to 60 cm wide. Flowering starts in May and continues into July, with a reliable second flush later in the summer if lightly pruned after the first bloom. The spiky flower clusters rise above the aromatic leaves, attracting numerous bees and butterflies.

This selection thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained, dry to moderately moist soils. It is drought-tolerant once established and heat-resistant, making it ideal for low-maintenance gardens, rockeries, borders, and edging. Unlike some sprawling catmints, 'Purrsian Blue' maintains a compact habit without flopping or spreading aggressively.

Care is minimal: trimming after the initial flowering promotes rebloom and keeps the plant neat. It’s a great pollinator-friendly option, blending well with ornamental grasses, lavender, salvia, or compact roses.
